2013 Leadership Academy

Our chapter had a strong presence at the AFP Leadership Academy, held in Pittsburgh, October 3-5.  Over 300 AFP leaders from dozens of chapters participated, and enjoyed sessions on volunteer leadership, talent development and meeting management.  AFP IHQ staff also updated chapter leaders on changes to the bylaws that will be shared with all members later this month as well as potential changes to the EMC campaign design.

The Charlotte delegation included board members Ben Mohler and Josh Jacobson, Past President Doug Hartjes, President-Elect Shannon Hinson and current President Patton McDowell.

New Member Social

On October 1st, new chapter members (joined since January 1, 2013), Board members, and Membership Committee members came together for a networking social at Brazz Uptown on the Green.  It was great to see our new friends connecting and conversing with seasoned AFP members.   We hope to continue this wonderful networking opportunity every year an addition to our many AFP Charlotte member benefits.  This was my last duty as 2013 Membership Chair, so I am happy to pass on the baton to Randall Hitt to carry on with this new tradition!  -- Deepa Naik
