President's Letter

As you may remember, the AFP Board of Directors contracted with an outside consultant near the end of 2018 to engage in a multi-year strategic plan. Since last December's retreat, our board has been working hard to solidify the goals of that plan and develop strategies and tactics to carry out those goals. From that, we've developed this document to highlight our plan.

As you know, we are a membership organization, so our overall focus will always be on our members and ensuring that they feel true value in their membership. You'll see that reflected in our Membership, Outreach, and Programming columns. We also want to do a better job as a Chapter of being more present and active in the Charlotte nonprofit and fundraising environment. We continue to see issues that impact our profession, so we want to be a voice in leading positive change.

This led to the overall themes for our plan, which are Talent Recruitment, Strengthen the Profession, and Advocacy. There is more detail on each of those areas within the Chapter goals.  We've done some slight restructuring of the board adjusting positions and creating new ones as well as devoted time at our board meetings to work on these strategies, to ensure that this plan doesn't sit on a shelf, but we actually move it forward over the coming years.

When you have time, please take a moment to review the information; reach out to board members if you have questions, and let us know if you see an area you'd like to plug in to.

CFRE Spotlight

Trust, dedication, expertise and love of others are the words I use when describing what the CFRE means to me. It means I always have the donors' best interest at heart and am here to support our amazing community. Serving others is what our profession is all about, and I chose to become a CFRE to demonstrate my dedication to fundraising as a profession -
