Special Event Fundraising  Are your events meeting their goals, raising significant dollars and making friends for your agency? A panel of Charlotte fundraisers shares tips for success in special events ranging from ask luncheons, to bike rides to creative black tie events. Facilitator: Michelle Hamilton, CFRE

Consulting as a Career  Considering consulting or project work as a means to expand your non-profit experience? Learn first-hand from local consultants on their experiences transitioning from careers in fundraising to careers advising fundraisers. Facilitator: Patton McDowell, CFRE

National Philanthropy Day Nominations Open

While November 13, National Philanthropy Day, may seem like an eternity from now, the April 5 deadline to submit nominations for the 2013 awards is just around the corner!

As in years past, there are nine award categories ranging from Emerging Philanthropist to Philanthropic Small Business to Outstanding Champion of Diversity. Nominating your volunteers, supporters and businesses for these prestigious awards not only honors and recognizes them for their work in the community, but it also builds great stewardship for years to come.

Are you interested in getting more out of your AFP Charlotte experience? Would you like to increase your network within the Charlotte fundraising community? Commiittees are a great way to accomplish both of these goals. When you join a committee, you are giving back to your profession. You also have an opportunity to expand your skills by taking on different roles within AFP Charlotte.

Chapter Mourns Loss of Leader

January 27, former board member and National Philanthropy Day award winner Alan Lee passed away. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Alan's family, friends and colleagues at Capstone Advancement Partners.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Urban Ministry Center, 945 N.
