Neely Gilbert is going to host a meeting with those who have expressed interest in participating and lead a conversation to identify the topics that members hope to explore. If you are interested in joining, please contact Neely Gilbert

Shining the Spotlight On...Your AFP Major Gifts Affinity Group

In our ongoing commitment to support you in your fundraising efforts, AFP is pleased to present several affinity groups.  Each group is designed to connect development professionals who face similar opportunities and challenges.  Affinity group members meet to exchange ideas, resources and serve as sounding boards to help each other achieve great things for their organizations and the community.

This month, we'd like to shine the proverbial spotlight on the Major Gifts affinity group.
In January, 26 AFP members met for an insightful discussion around (among other topics!):
·         Creating campaign strategy
·         Developing stewardship protocols
·         Forming a major giving program
·         Setting goals for a campaign
·         Optimizing database management systems
·         Determining how many donors one should manage
·         Partnering with program development colleagues

Together, we offered suggestions, provided wise counsel, and exchanged contact information so that we can support each other going forward.  Attendees made a commitment to operate with total confidentiality so that members could speak freely and help each other with total transparency.    The conversation was so powerful that we decided it would be helpful to create a LinkedIn group so that APF members can continue the conversation between meetings!

Bottom line AFP members interested in learning more and networking with peers about major giving topics can benefit from this outstanding resource.  Come check it out!

The next AFP Major Gifts Affinity Group meeting will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 | 8:30 10:00 am at Thompson Family Services Center Members register here
