2014 NC Philanthropy Conference: Chaos to Clarity

Strategies to Help Nonprofit Professionals Survive and Thrive

Participate in the 2014 NC Philanthropy Conference in Durham.  Keynote speaker Amy Eisenstein, ACFRE, is a best-selling author, speaker, trainer and consultant, as well as the owner of Tri Point Fundraising, a full-service consulting firm for nonprofit organizations and foundations.

Her published books include: Amazon Best-Seller Major Gift Fundraising for Small Shops: How to Leverage Your Annual Fund in Only Five Hours per Week, Raising More with Less: An Essential Fundraising Guide for Nonprofit Professionals and Board Members, and 50 A$ks in 50 Weeks: A Guide to Better Fundraising for Your Small Development Shop.

She currently serves as the president of the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals New Jersey Chapter. Amy received her Master's Degree in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management from the Wagner Graduate School at New York University and her Bachelor's Degree from Douglass College at Rutgers University. Amy became a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) in 2004 and became an ACFRE in 2013.

Because of this inconvenience we are extending the regular rate until Friday August 8thAll registrations MUST be received by 5:00 PM on Friday.  No exceptions.  AFP Members $139 Guests $170
 
If you decide to attend after Friday, 8/8 you must register on-site the day at the much higher rate:  AFP Members $170 Guests $200.


Affinity Groups: Major Gifts

We will have our next AFP Major Gifts Affinity group Monday, August 11 from 9 am to 10:30 am at the Catholic Center, 1123 South Church Street. If the parking lot is full in front of the building, remember you can park across the street in our other lot.

We are now accepting nominations to the 2015 AFP Charlotte Board of Directors.

AFP Charlotte is always looking for talented fundraisers to lead the chapter and serve the mission of the chapter. Serving on the board is a great way to give back to the profession and work side by side with your fellow fundraising professionals.

Our board is made up individuals from different organizations and backgrounds. Most have served on a committee leading up to their nomination, though this is not a requirement. Special consideration is given to candidates who have obtained their CFRE.

New Affinity Group Forming for Senior Development Professionals

Senior development directors (in experience, not age) are responsible for much more than managing development staff in the execution of solid, strategic development plans.  Our time is spent directing strategies for our organizations, developing staff retention and succession plans, contributing to programming decisions, and helping to determine the overall direction of the organization. 

AFP Charlotte's affinity groups are designed to give members opportunities to exchange and discuss ideas with peers within a specific topic of interest.  If you have been in a lead development role for more than ten years and would like to be a part of an affinity group to discuss the role of a senior development professionals in today's non-profit, please email Michelle Hamilton, CFRE. 

The schedule, location and frequency of discussions will be determined by the group.  An initial meeting will be planned for mid-September.

Calling All Mentors and Mentees!

The AFP Charlotte's Mentoring Program is a great benefit our chapter offers each year and is an excellent resource for new and experienced development professionals that enhances and broadens the professional's knowledge, skills set and success in the field of philanthropy.

The application will be available on the AFP website to apply to for the 2014-2015 AFP Charlotte Mentoring Program as a  mentor or mentee from August 15th-Sept 15th.

We are also looking for AFP members that would like to serve on the AFP Charlotte mentoring committee.
