Gift Acceptance Policies and Why Your Organization Needs One

Event Date: 11/21/2013
Location: Westin Charlotte - 601 South College Street, Charlotte
Time: 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM

Does your organization have a gift acceptance policy?

Don't miss this morning session on the importance of gift acceptance policies and why this document is so important to your overall development program.

Gift acceptance policies are unique to each organization.  They outline what gifts can and cannot be accepted, provide discipline in gift acceptance and administration, and educate board and staff about the complexities of accepting certain types of gifts.  Unfortunately most organizations don't realize the need for a gift acceptance policy until they face a capital or endowment campaign, when this valuable policy should be used on an ongoing basis to provide guidance for staff, donors and their advisers on an ongoing basis.

Read through your gift acceptance policy, if you have one, and bring your questions to AFP Charlotte's November program!

In Case You Missed It...

At the October Monthly Meeting, AFP presented a panel discussion on what development professionals should know about planned giving.

Moderated by AFP's own Bart Landess of the YMCA, panelists Phillips Bragg of Bragg Financial, Brandon Davis of The Morehead Group, Meg Goldstein of Meg Goldstein Law, and Ann Marie Schmitz from BDO Seidman discussed their experiences in helping clients to plan gifts that are mutually beneficial to donors and their heirs, as well as the organizations receiving them.
