Join former AFP Charlotte President Patton McDowell to learn more about each of these 5 keys, and how you and your colleagues can best identify the characteristics, overcome some of the challenges that often occur, and leave with practical tactics to implement right away.  

About Patton 
Dr. Patton McDowell, MBA, CFRE, is a not-for-profit expert, best-selling author, consultant and coach. He founded PMA Nonprofit Leadership in 2009, and has worked with nearly 275 nonprofit organizations on their leadership development, fundraising and strategic planning. He's a Master Trainer for AFP, a former board president for AFP Charlotte, and chapter representative for AFP Global. His podcast Your Path to Nonprofit Leadership includes nearly 200 episodes featuring interviews with not-for-profit leaders from around the world, and he published his first book, also titled Your Path to Nonprofit Leadership, in 2022.  He currently serves as the Director and Lead Faculty member for the Institute of Philanthropic Leadership and its two signature programs: the New Development Professionals and Leadership Gift School. Patton received his bachelor's degree from UNC Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead Scholar, his MBA from the McColl School of Business at Queens, and his Doctor of Education (Organizational Change and Leadership) from the University of Southern California.
