Leave A Legacy

In 1998 the National Committee on Planned Giving launched LEAVE A LEGACY, a public awareness campaign, to increase the quantity of charitable legacy giving across North America. Over 90 LEAVE A LEGACY programs were established in communities across the United States and Canada. The LEAVE A LEGACY campaign did not solicit gifts for any particular organization. Instead, the program was a partnership to help promote the message that all of us have the ability to "Make a difference in the lives that follow" by leaving a charitable legacy.

Our Mission

LEAVE A LEGACY® Charlotte Region, like the national organization, does not promote any specific charity or cause. The program encourages prospective donors to work with the professional staff and volunteers of the charities that they already support, or the advisors with whom they have a relationship, to establish a charitable bequest or planned gift. The program is a collaborative effort among local nonprofit organizations, foundations, estate planning professionals, and corporate sponsors.

Events

  • Programs for Non-profit Professionals, Executive Directors, Board Members and Volunteers
Leave a Legacy regularly offers programs to enhance the planned giving efforts of non-profits in the Charlotte Region.  Experienced development professionals, and professional advisors with expertise in estate planning lead these programs.
  • Programs for the Faith Community
In 2009 Leave a Legacy launched an initiative to reach out to staff and volunteers from churches and synagogues that are considering, or are implementing planned giving programs in their house of worship.
  • Planned Giving Coaching Circles
Coaching Circles are offered as a series of roundtables for individuals to come together to share ideas and learn tips for a successful planned giving. One or two individuals lead each coaching circle with expertise in planned giving. The coaching circles provide substantial time for questions and answers.
