Mentoring Program Creates Mutually Beneficial Relationships
by Andrea Towner, Mentoring Committee Member
Relatively new to the field of development or a well-seasoned professional? No matter where you fall on the spectrum, there's a place for you to participate in AFP Charlotte's
mentoring program, running spring to fall of each year. Consider completing the application to become a mentor or a mentee in early 2019. Matches are made based on the mentees' specific goals and desired growth areas, and the mentors' areas of strength and expertise.
One example of a marvelous match made in 2017 is Mentor
Jane Weaver and Mentee
Aubrye Carr who share their perspectives.

IDEA Town Hall Discussion
On Wednesday, November 7th, AFP Charlotte held a Town Hall Discussion focused on the topics of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA). The event was a part of a platform to hear about the observations and experiences of fundraising professionals from diverse backgrounds and to discuss issues professionals face, including Charlotte's nonprofit environment, fundraising challenges, and AFP specifically. A group of approximately 40 nonprofit professionals of diverse backgrounds representing the Charlotte's nonprofit sector gathered.
Our discussion, facilitated by Charlotte-based consultant and writer Valaida Fullwood, included individual exercises, small group activities, and full group conversations. Observations and lessons learned from the Town Hall will be utilized by AFP's IDEA Committee as they continue their work towards building a more diverse Chapter truly representative of the Charlotte area.
A special thank you to Reemprise for supporting AFP Charlotte's strategic initiatives.
