President's Letter
Hello Friends and Members of AFP Charlotte,

Wow!  We are already in the middle of September and many are planning end of year campaigns and strategies. Sometimes, in our roles as fundraisers, it's challenging to stop and take a breath. To reflect on the incredible work we are accomplishing. I hope that in 2020 you have taken the time to acknowledge your ability to quickly adapt to challenges and develop a completely new way of fundraising for our organizations. Thank you for your hard work!

As we look towards the last quarter of 2020, I want to highlight a few items:

- Great local virtual programming through AFP Charlotte on September 24th and October 15th - visit our newly updated website to learn more and register!
- AFP Global will host virtual AFP Lead on October 14 & 15th, which is a great opportunity to hone leadership skills and learn the latest in fundraising trends.
- AFP Charlotte is offering 8 trial memberships for new members and free annual memberships to current members. To learn more visit our scholarships page.
- Our friends in the Triangle Chapter are offering two AFP Global courses this fall - CFRE Refresher (October 22-23) and Fundamentals of Fundraising (October 28 - 30). Visit their registration page here.
- Keep your eyes open for a program co-hosted by Foundation For The Carolinas and NC Center for Nonprofits in mid-October.

Please help us approve our slate of board nominees. You will receive an email this month with the request to digitally approve the slate of nominees. We need active participation from our members to help us during a non-traditional and virtual year. We are excited about our 2021 board and appreciate the volunteers who make AFP Charlotte a reality.

Thank you again for your tremendous work in our community. I hope we run into you virtually in the coming weeks and months as we work together to serve Charlotte and the surrounding communities.

Be Well,

Penny

IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access)
As fundraisers, we have a responsibility to interrogate perceptions of philanthropy and to rethink what philanthropy means for modern needs and equity. The IDEA Committee is pleased to share the following resources to aid in that process:

Promoting Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) is a key pillar of AFP Global and AFP Charlotte's vision for the organization. For more information, or to join the IDEA committee, please contact Holly Whitfield, VP IDEA and Strategic Initiatives, at hwhitfield@shepherdscharlotte.org.
