Upcoming Events

Save the Date - December Program
Got DAFs?
Presented by AFP Charlotte and Foundation For The Carolinas
Thursday December 10, 2020 from 2:00-3:30 PM
Register here.
Donor-advised funds (DAF) are frequently identified as one of the fastest-growing vehicles for charitable giving. The number of donor-advised fund accounts has tripled in recent years. Neither recent tax law changes or stock market volatility appears to have hit the DAF world that hard.
How do they work and how may they be of benefit to your nonprofit?
Join us for this program with your most pressing questions about donor-advised funds and how to incorporate this giving vehicle into your fundraising plans.
Presenters and Panelists include:
  • Catherine Warfield, CFP, Senior Vice President, Philanthropic Advancement at Foundation For The Carolinas
  • Deviré Robinson, J.D., Vice President, Centers for Giving at Foundation For The Carolinas
  • Jamie Hayes, CFRE, Executive Director, JDRF North Carolina
  • Armen Boyajian, CFRE, Director of Leadership Giving, Diocese of Charlotte

Scholarship opportunities remain available!

As organizations continue to adapt to this new normal, we want to focus on our members and keep them active and engaged in the important work of fundraising and development. We are pleased to award scholarships to cover the AFP Global and AFP Charlotte chapter dues. Scholarships are also awarded to cover professional development opportunities (webinars, a specific course, etc.).

Please visit the AFP Charlotte Chapter scholarship page to learn more.

Join an AFP Committee

One of the best ways to become involved with AFP Charlotte is through a committee. You'll get to know members, build your network, and support the profession. Committees are involved with planning events like National Philanthropy Day and the NC Philanthropy Conference, and they support members through chapter programs like mentorship and scholarship. Being involved with a committee is also a great path to becoming a board member.

If you are interested, please fill out a simple form and the committee leader will be in touch with more information.

IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access)

As fundraisers, we have a responsibility to interrogate perceptions of philanthropy and to rethink what philanthropy means for modern needs and equity.
While Election Day may be over, many of us may still be feeling anxiety, uncertainty, or the weight of a divided country. This month, the IDEA committee is pleased to share some articles to help you deal with stress:

Promoting Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) is a key pillar of AFP Global and AFP Charlotte's vision for the organization. For more information, or to join the IDEA committee, please contact Holly Whitfield, VP IDEA and Strategic Initiatives, at
