Scholarships

AFP Charlotte Scholarships exists to:

  • Recruit new members: Encourage individuals to join the AFP community.
  • Retain existing members: Support professional growth and engagement of current members.
  • Help members enhance fundraising expertise: Provide access to valuable learning opportunities.
Scholarship Categories:
  • Membership:
    • Covers: AFP Global Membership + AFP Charlotte Dues
    • Eligibility: Prospective and current AFP Charlotte t members.
    • Categories: Professional ($345), Young Professional ($120), Retired ($145), Associate ($345), Small Nonprofit Organizations ($200).
    • Chapter Participation: By accepting the scholarship, you agree to attend a minimum of 4 AFP Charlotte programs and/or event during the year of membership.
  • Professional Development:
    • Covers:
      • Registration fees (webinars, courses, conferences, CFRE review course)
      • Course materials
      • Hotel costs, meals, and transportation (considered on a case-by-case basis)
    • Eligibility: Current AFP Charlotte members.
  • Premier Conference Scholarships
      • AFP NC Philanthropy Conference
        • Recipients are asked to complete one volunteer shift at the conference.
      • ICON (Deadline: October 31, 2025)
        • Recipients are asked to submit an article to the AFP Charlotte newsletter highlighting their experience
      • AFP Global Chamberlain Scholarship for ICON (Deadline: October 31, 2025)
        • Recipients are asked to coordinate a chapter sponsored social at ICON 2025
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Preference given to:
    • Individuals with at least 24 months of fundraising experience.
    • Individuals who have served on an AFP committee.
    • Individuals who have attended at least four AFP events within the last 12-18 months.
  • Limitations:
    • One scholarship per member per year.
    • One scholarship per organization per category per year.
    • Maximum of three membership scholarships per organization within five years.

  • Review Periods: Application will be reviewed quarterly by the Scholarship Committee.
  • 2025 Application Deadline:
    • Friday, March 14
    • Sunday, June 1
    • Friday, September 12
    • Friday, October 31 (ICON and Chamberlain only).
    • Friday, December 5
  • Confidentiality: Applicants' names will never be shared with the AFP membership at large unless permission is granted by the recipient. This may occur in instances of promoting the Scholarship program and various initiatives.
