AFP Charlotte Chapter Announces Winners of 2012 Philanthropy Awards July 2012

The Charlotte Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is pleased to announce the winners of the 2012 National Philanthropy Day awards. The selection committee, comprised of community leaders who were past award winners, had the difficult task of selecting this group from over 45 deserving nominees. The winners will be formally recognized at the 21st Annual National Philanthropy Day Award Luncheon to be held on November 7th at the Westin Charlotte.

"National Philanthropy Day gives us the opportunity to pay tribute to the contributions that philanthropy and philanthropists have made in Charlotte," says Katie Benston, AFP Charlotte Board President. "We are very excited to be able to recognize this year's honorees for all that they have done for our community."

AFP-Charlotte Announces Date for 2012 National Philanthropy Day and Call for Award Nominations April 2012

The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Charlotte Chapter (AFP-Charlotte) is officially accepting nominations for the 2012 National Philanthropy Day (NPD) awards, which will take place on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Westin Charlotte. This annual event honors community members who change the world with a giving heart.

Awards are presented in nine categories:

Outstanding Philanthropic Small Business

Outstanding Philanthropic Organization

Outstanding Philanthropist

Outstanding Legacy

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser

Outstanding Emerging Philanthropist

Outstanding Student Philanthropy

Outstanding Fundraising Executive

Outstanding Champion of Diversity

"The AFP-Charlotte Chapter is excited to honor the businesses, organizations and individuals who make Charlotte such a vibrant community," said Katie Benston, president of the AFP-Charlotte Chapter. "AFP-Charlotte has honored those in the community who make a difference for 25 years and we look forward to recognizing another strong class of community leaders."

Award descriptions and criteria, nomination forms and a list of the 2011 winners can be found on the AFP-Charlotte website. Nominations must be received by Monday, June 11, to be considered.
